Computed tomography (CT), also known as computed tomography, computed axial tomography (TACO), CT-scan (CT: computerized tomography), CAT-scan (CAT: computer-assisted tomography), or simply scanner or scanner for the devicea , is a medical imaging technique which consists in measuring the absorption of X-rays by the tissues then, by computer processing, in digitizing and finally reconstructing 2D or 3D images of the anatomical structures. To acquire the data, a tomographic or "slice" analysis technique is used, subjecting the patient to scanning an X-ray beam.
