Slow urine flow and urine retention

My husband has had slow urine flow since 2019 and after doing a urine flow test he was told he most likely has a urethral stricture. He decided not to take the procedure of Optical urethrotomy because he didn’t want to use a catheter. Just recently his bladder is retaining more urine and he has to use the toilet more. He is ready to undergo procedure and would like to know which is the best test and procedure for this issue?
Your husband should first undergo a urinary tract ultrasound to measure the post-void residual urine volume, along with a uroflowmetry to objectively assess the urinary flow rate and the severity of the obstruction.

If a urethral stricture is suspected, a retrograde urethrogram and/or cystourethroscopy may also be necessary to confirm the diagnosis and determine the location and length of the stricture.

Depending on the findings, an endoscopic procedure such as optical internal urethrotomy may be indicated. However, the most appropriate treatment depends on the characteristics of the stricture, as other procedures may offer better long-term results in selected cases.

Given the increasing urinary retention, he should consult a urologist promptly to avoid complications. If he becomes unable to urinate, he should seek emergency medical care.
