Brachytherapy

Brachytherapy for eye cancer is also called episcleral plaque therapy. Radioactive grains are attached to a circular piece of metal (plate). This plaque is made of gold, which helps protect surrounding tissue from radiation. The plaque is surgically placed on the tumor in the eye.
