About repaglinidemeglitinide derivative, insulin secretagogue, oral anti-diabetic drug.mechanism of action of repaglinideit is a quick and short acting antidiabetic drug which exerts it`s action by stimulating insulin release from ?-cells of pancreas. it acts by binding to sulfonylurea receptor and to other distinct receptors and closes atp dependent potassium channels and thus causes depolarization. this depolarization of pancreatic ? cells causes opening of ca channels and increased ca influx which induces insulin secretion. indications for repaglinidenon-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (as adjunct to diet and exercise)interactions for repaglinideketoconazole, miconazole and erythromycin: metabolism of repaglinide inhibited. troglitazone, rifampicin, barbiturates and carbamazepine: increase metabolism of repaglinide.
