About racecadotrila peripherally acting enkephalinase inhibitor, antidiarrheal. mechanism of action of racecadotrilracecadotril is a dipeptide. it is an enkephalinase inhibitor which prevents the degradation of enkephalins. enkephalins are endogenous opioid which act on delta opioid receptor and reduces the cyclic amp level and produces antidiarrhoeal effect. thus the increased concentration of enkephalins reduces the hyper secretions of water and electrolyte in to the intestinal lumen. racecadotril reduces the incidence of diarrhoea and diarrhoea associated symptoms.indications for racecadotril1. acute symptomatic diarrhoeainteractions for racecadotrilno clinically significant interactions involving interference with drug metabolism have been reported with racecadotril.
