About risperidonesecond-generation antipsychotic, benzisoxazole derivative, antimanic, atypical antipsychotic.mechanism of action of risperidonerisperidone exerts its antipsychotic activity by blocking dopamine and serotonin (5ht2) receptors. the drug has antagonistic action on alpha adrenergic and histaminergic receptors. these produce an increase in neurotransmitters concentration and thereby antipsychotic action.indications for risperidonepsychosesinteractions for risperidonelevodopa : efficacy of levodopa and dopamine agonists reduced. carbamazepine : chronic administration of carbamazepine may decrease it`s efficacy. clozapine : chronic administration of clozapine may enhance it`s efficacy.
