About celecoxibnon-steroidal anti inflammatory drug (nsaid) ,cox-2 selective inhibitor, anti-inflammatory agent.mechanism of action of celecoxibthis inhibits prostaglandin synthesis peripherally by selective noncompetitive inhibition of cyclooxygenase-2 (cox-2) enzyme. it binds with its polar sulfonamide side chain to a hydrophilic side pocket region close to the active cox-2 binding site (both cox-1 and cox-2 catalyze the conversion of arachidonic acid to prostaglandin (pg) h2, the precursor of pgs and thromboxane). this results its anti-inflammatory actionindications for celecoxib1. osteoarthritis 2. rheumatoid arthritis 3. acute gout contra-indications of celecoxib1. hypersensitivity to celecoxib 2. allergic type reactions to sulphonamides /aspirin or other nsaids.
