About selenium sulphideselenium compound, antifungal,anti-dandruff,in seborrheic dermatitis.mechanism of action of selenium sulphidetopical selenium sulfide produces antimitotic (cytostatic) action on cells of the epidermis and follicular epithelium and causes a reduction in the turnover of epidermal cells and reduces corneocyte production. it also has local irritant, antibacterial and mild antifungal activity. selenium sulfide is an antifungal agent often used in shampoos for the treatment of dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis. selenium sulfide inhibits the growth of p. ovale. it slows the growth of both hyperproliferative and normal cells in dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis. selenium sulfide decreases the rate of incorporation of radioactively labeled thymidine into the dna of dermal epithelial cells. selenium sulphide specifically destroys dermatophyte. it also causes a decrease in the production of cells in the top layer of skin, as well as the amount of natural oil seb
