About propofola short-acting, intravenous hypnotic, general anesthetia(intravenous induction agent).mechanism of action of propofolit excites inhibitory and inhibits excitatory synapsis by binding ligand-gated ion channels specially post-synaptic gaba receptors. it cause cns depression and calcium channel mediated cardiac depression.indications for propofol1. induction/maintenance of anesthesia 2. conscious sedation interactions for propofolopioids, muscle relaxants / neuromuscular blockers: increased anaesthesia, increased respiratory depression (opioids), increased neuromuscular blockade. midazolam, thiopental, fentanyl: increased hypnosis. nitrous oxide, halothane, isoflurane: decrease dose.
