About ticlopidinethienopyridine derivative, an adenosine diphosphate (adp) receptor inhibitor, antiplatelet agent.mechanism of action of ticlopidinethe drug exerts it`s antithrombotic action by interfering with platelet aggregation. it alters surface receptors in platelets and inhibits adp and fibrinogen induced platelet-fibrinogen and platelet-platelet binding and prevents platelet aggregation. it blocks g-protein coupled p2yac type of inhibitory purinergic receptors which mediates adenylyl cyclase inhibition by adp. it prolongs bleeding time.interactions for ticlopidineantacids: absorption of ticlopidine decreased. cimetidine: chronic cimetidine administration results in decreased clearance of ticlopidine. aspirin: effect of aspirin on collagen induced platelet aggregation potentiated hence coadministation not recommended. digoxin: digoxin levels may be slightly decreased. theophylline: elimination half life of theophylline increased significantly.
