About sodium lactateskin smoothening agent, moisturizers,keratolytic.mechanism of action of sodium lactatesodium lactate is used as skin smoothening agent, moisturizers and keratolytics. these penetrate into the stratum corneum where they attract and retain water, thereby increasing the capacity of the skin to retain water. at higher concentrations sodium lactate also act as keratolytics. keratolytics causes breakdown of keratin which are responsible for the skin cells to harden making the skin become thickened and scaly. keratolytics help in shedding skin cells from these areas and soften and improve the appearance of dry, scaly skin. this action also improves the ability of moisturising ingredients to penetrate the skin and rehydrate it.
