About pimozidediphenylbutylpiperidine derivative, antipsychotic, antidyskinetic.mechanism of action of pimozidepimozide exerts its antipsychotic action by selectively inhibiting the dopamine receptor. it also possesses weak antiadrenergic, antihistaminic, antiserotonin and anticholinergic actions. it also inhibits the reuptake of dopamine from the synaptic cleftindications for pimozide1. chronic psychoses 2. gilles de la tourette syndrome interactions for pimozideanticonvulsants: pimozide may lower the convulsive threshold. phenothiazines, tcas or antiarrhythmic agents: pimozide prolongs the qt interval, therefore avoid concomitant use. alcohol and other cns depressants (hypnotics, sedatives, analgesics, anxiolytics etc.): pimozide potentiates the effects of these drugs.
