About nateglinidemeglitinide derivative, oral antidiabetic agent.mechanism of action of nateglinideit is a quick and short acting antidiabetic drug which exerts it`s action by stimulating insulin release from ?-cells of pancreas. it acts by binding to sulfonylurea receptor and to other distinct receptors and closes atp dependent potassium channels and thus causes depolarization. this depolarization of pancreatic ? cells causes opening of ca channels and increased ca influx which induces insulin secretion.indications for nateglinide1. non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (as adjunct to diet and exercise)interactions for nateglinidensaids, salicylates, maois, and non selective beta-adrenergic blocking agents: may potentiate the hypoglycaemic effects. thiazides, corticosteroids, thyroxine and sympathomimetics: may reduce the hypoglycaemic effects.
