Bronchoscopy, also called bronchial endoscopy or bronchial endoscopy, is a procedure to explore the inside of the respiratory tree, namely the trachea and large bronchi. It is performed using a specific endoscope called a bronchoscope. It is a small tube with a small light source and a camera. Depending on the indication, the visual examination can in fact be combined with other diagnostic or therapeutic procedures: tissue sampling for biopsy, removal of foreign bodies, drainage of abscesses, etc.
